What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crew Leader I - Water Distribution position at City of Norfolk, VA?
The Department of Utilities is seeking qualified candidates for a Crew Leader I with our Water Distribution Division. This person will perform as a lead in repairing, maintaining and installing water services for City of Norfolk. They will also schedule and oversee safety of employees.
Essential Functions Include But Are Not Limited To
 * Repairs water mains and taps by excavating to leak location, installing clamps, force lines, fixings, water meters, washers, services straps, corp. stops, copper tubing, etc., backfilling and removing excess.
 * Performs supervisory duties by assigning duties, allocating equipment, delivering equipment, maintaining yard, checking equipment and public safety notices such as signs to ensure proper functioning, checking and maintaining vehicles and materials, prepare reports, timesheets, materials and equipment sheets, job status reports, and evaluating employees performance.
 * Climbs ladders and stairs, bends, pushes, pulls, stoops, and lifts up to 75 lbs.; stands for extended periods of time; confined space entry also required

Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, or technical processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.
Two years experience.
Two Years Experience Supervising a Maintenance Crew Preferred.
Valid Driver's License
Work Location: Combined Operations Center: 1316 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk, VA
Work Hours: Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; nights/on call duty rotation as well
This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus.Â
This position is designated as an 'Essential' position and you may be required to work extended, rotating, after hours, weekends, and/or holiday shifts in response to emergencies and severe weather.
