The Department of General Services is seeking a qualified Electrician II for the Facilities Maintenance Division. The Electrician II will install and maintain lighting and electrical systems throughout the City of Norfolk.Installs and maintains lighting and electrical systems to include: Â

The Department of General Services is seeking a qualified Electrician II for the Facilities Maintenance Division. The Electrician II will install and maintain lighting and electrical systems throughout the City of Norfolk.Installs and maintains lighting and electrical systems to include: Â
- troubleshooting and repairing circuitsÂ
- locating power sources
- changing ballasts in light fixturesÂ
- replacing switches and receptaclesÂ
- replacing light fixtures or repairing internal componentsÂ
- re-lamping with new LED lampsÂ
- running new circuits for receptaclesÂ
- wiring and splicing for string lightsÂ
- installing contactors, photocells, conduits, boxes, fittings, and all wiringÂ
- testing lighting circuitsÂ
- pulling data and communication cableÂ
- cleaning lighting lensesÂ
- installing time clocksÂ
- installing new fixtures in elevatorsÂ
- hanging banners and flags
- testing and installing cameras, monitors, and television systemsÂ
- installing telephone and data equipmentÂ
- obtaining estimates for materials and/or services and submits for purchase order by following procurement proceduresÂ
- using work order management application (Facility Dude) to update assigned work orders with notes, labor hours, and materials usedÂ
- scheduling, coordinating, and overseeing work of contractorsÂ
- following strict tool and inventory control procedures
Required
- Three years of experience as an electrician.
- Four years of experience as an electrician.
- Valid Driver's License required.
- State Journeyman Electrician's License required within one (1) year of employment.Â
- A copy of your license or NEC training transcripts will be required if selected for hire.
