What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Events Tech I position at City of North Myrtle Beach?

Under general supervision, performs installation, maintenance, and repair of City amenities and facilities associated with Parks and Recreation Special Events and public grounds.  Variable, forty hour per week work schedule accommodates weekend, night, and as-needed timing of special event activities of the Parks and Recreation Department which are generally conducted outside normal working hours. Performs general and skilled labor as necessary.   
Education:       High school diploma or GED and/or vocation or technical school training in electrical, plumbing, welding, or carpentry discipline or demonstrated ability to obtain such
Experience:     One (1) to two (2) years of progressively responsible experience
Certifications:  
  • Valid driver's license
Preferred:        
  • Prior experience in the area of special events
Note:
  • The City retains the right to determine equivalencies.
  • Any certifications not possessed at hire, must be obtained before the employee is removed from probation in order to continue employment with the City.
 
Must be physically able to operate heavy and light equipment, carpentry, masonry and asphalt tools, and numerous other small implements.  Must be able to exert in excess of one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of fifty pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of twenty pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to one hundred pounds.
