Each Saturday (May–October, 9AM–1PM), the market comes alive with 65 vendors, fresh produce, homemade goodies, and community vibes in Drexel Town Square. Help make fresh, local food accessible to everyone!
Duties, Functions and Supervision/Accountability
Attendance at the Market every Saturday (7 a.m. – 2 p.m.) during the season is expected. For Saturdays this is not possible, the manager is responsible for arranging appropriate and adequate coverage in cooperation with the MPR team.
Serve as a point of contact and public face of the Oak Creek Farmers Market on market days, and manage the weekly market, coordinating, and overseeing day-to-day operations.
Work collaboratively with the Tourism and Event Coordinator to enroll farmers/vendors in the Oak Creek Farmers Market and to maintain database (Marketspread) of farmers, vendors, and any licenses or permits.
Manage relationships with farmers and vendors, ensuring timely communication and resolutions to issues or problems.
Manage day-of staff and on-site volunteers and delegate workload. Coordinate with volunteers.
Attend all Oak Creek Farmers Market Committee meetings and provide a written report on Market affairs, provide input as requested and work collaboratively with the Committee members to ensure smooth running of the Market.
Manage and serve as point of contact for WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Programs.
Qualifications
High school diploma required. A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or Agriculture, or related fields is preferred.
One year of retail and/or Farmers Market experience is required including cash handling experience. Two years of management experience is preferred.
Possession of a valid Wisconsin motor vehicle operator’s license is preferred, but not required.
Knowledge of municipal government services and activities, and basic knowledge of local food systems and the importance of farmers markets is beneficial.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, attention to detail.
Strong mathematical skills, and able to handle financial transactions.
Able to complete paperwork with appropriate attention to detail.
Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, and to maintain effective working relationships.
