Sr. Drafting Tech
Summary: Under basic supervision, uses an Automated Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD) system to develop and update technical drawings and plans; maintains and updates technical documents and databases.
Essential Functions: Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prepares drawings, plans, maps, and exhibits in AutoCAD and ArcMap, using knowledge of City infrastructure and operations, and experience with specialized engineering software applications.
- Indexes, scans, assembles, files, researches, and maintains records and database.
- Provides customer service duties; answers technical questions on City records.
- Supports the divisional operations with regular and timely attendance.
- Supports the relationship between the City of Odessa and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:
- Associate's Degree in Engineering, Science, Drafting, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 2 years' computer drafting experience.
- A different combination of education and relevant experience equivalent to the above may be considered.
Knowledge of:
- Nomenclature, symbols, methods, practices, and instruments used in drafting and design.
- Legal and technical documents, maps, and engineering designs.
- Technical record keeping and records management practices.
Skill in:
- Interpreting technical information and producing complex drawings and plans.
- Developing, manipulating, and analyzing engineering information in a variety of data formats.
- Using computers and specialized engineering software, including AutoCAD and GIS systems.
- Maintaining records and files.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.
- Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
License and certification requirements:
- A valid Texas State Driver's License is required.
- Automated Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD) highly desired.
Physical demands and working environment: Work is performed in a standard office environment.
