Minimum Starting Salary:
Traffic Maintenance I: $16.85 - $21.48 per hour, depending on qualifications (Grade L03)
Traffic Maintenance II: $17.87 - $22.78 per hour, depending on qualifications (Grade L04)
Nature of Work:
Performs semi-skilled work in the Maintenance and Support section of the Streets and Stormwater Division. Works independently and exercises judgment in placement of barricades, cones, and signs for public safety, determining when to close a street or traffic lane, and when to contact other departments for assistance.
Work Schedule: 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM; 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM; and 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM on rotating shifts with rotating days off. Required to work weekends and holidays based on division needs and event schedules.
Traffic Maintenance I: High school graduate plus one year of manual general labor experience required.; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must be safety conscious as work is performed in the streets. Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office desired. Florida Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) or Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification required. Valid Florida driver license required.
Traffic Maintenance II: High school graduate plus three years experience in the placement of barricades, cones, signs, and traffic lane and/or street closures; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must be safety conscious as work is performed in the streets. Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office desired. Florida Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) or Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification required. Valid Florida driver license required.
