Description
Under the direction of the City Maintenance Director, this role performs a variety of semi-skilled manual labor tasks as assigned in the construction and maintenance of streets and City facilities. The starting wage for this position is $16.50 per hour, depending on qualifications.
Essential Functions (with or without reasonable accommodation)
Performs manual physical labor, which is often arduous, in a variety of street maintenance, repair and construction work projects and settings. Participates in concrete and asphalt replacement projects. Performs snow removal in light and medium equipment. Assists in the installation, maintenance and repair of street signs and traffic signals. Reads utility meters monthly and performs utility meter maintenance as necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Physical and Environmental Demands
Work is generally performed outdoors year-round in varying weather and environmental conditions. Job duties require a considerable amount of physical activity, including walking, standing, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching, climbing, digging and scooping. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Must lift 20 pounds frequently and repeatedly and lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and as needed. Incumbent must also be able to work from a ladder at heights greater than four (4) feet and ability to work from a lift in excess of 20 feet.
Requirements
1. Must have a valid Nebraska Driver’s License.
2. Be over 19 years of age.
3. Must have, or be willing to obtain within 6 months of employment, a valid Water Operator’s License.
4. Must be willing to submit to random drug and alcohol testing.
