JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under general direction, plans, organizes, supervises and directs administrative and professional work by leading, mentoring, and motivating staff with the projects, operations and services of the Building Development Division; manages the development and implementation of City policies and procedures compliant with Florida Building Code (FBC), local codes and ordinances, and state and federal laws.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in design, construction, public administration or related field and/or ten (10) years of commercial/residential building construction experience with at least five (5) years of experience at the lead or supervisory level.
- Must possess or meet the parameters per F.S. 468.609 to obtain a State of Florida Provisional Building Code Administrator License within three (3) months placement into this position and a State of Florida certified Building Code Administrator prior to the expiration of the provisional license.
- Requires a valid Florida driver license.
- Work is primarily sedentary however requires regular travel in and around the City and Pinellas County; frequent meetings and events at unusual hours and days requiring flexibility. Requires use of computers, voice and electronic communications systems.
