The Part-Time Reuse Field Coordinator supports the City's Oasis “I Can Water” reuse water installation operations by performing field inspections, working with a contractor, system monitoring, customer coordination, and maintenance assistance. This role ensures safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible delivery of reclaimed water for irrigation and other approved uses, while maintaining compliance with state and local regulations. Follows safety procedures and promotes a safe work environment. A strong understanding of ethical behavior is required. Needs to have an intellectual curiosity and a desire to find answers. Performs related work as required.
- Conduct pre-installation evaluations for the placement of reuse meters and service lines, identifying probable cross-connection control concerns.
- Monitor system performance in the field, including valves, meters, and backflow prevention devices, to provide pre-installation planning.
- Conduct site inspections to verify reclaimed water system connections, flow, and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Respond to customer inquiries, service issues, and requests related to reused water connections and service interruptions.
- Record and report findings from inspections, pressure tests, and routine maintenance checks.
- Assist with basic maintenance tasks such as flushing lines, adjusting valves, and inspecting irrigation tie-ins.
- Communicate with property owners, contractors, and internal departments to ensure coordination of field activities.
- Promote proper water reuse practices and educate customers on system functionality and conservation.
- Ensure all safety protocols and environmental procedures are followed while working in the field.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience operating, maintaining, or repairing utilities, water distribution, wastewater collection, or reclaimed water systems is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
- Cross-connection Control Training preferred.
- Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) water treatment or distribution license, Florida Water & Pollution Control Operators (FW&PCOA) wastewater or reuse certification preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- General knowledge of the methods, tools, equipment, and necessary safety precautions used for reclaimed water and irrigation systems.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions, work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to speak, write, and understand English. Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to operate a computer for data entry and reporting using Microsoft Office or related programs.
- Ability to complete all training programs offered.
- A comparable amount of training and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Work Days/Hours : Flexible hours; may include occasional weekends or after-hours response if necessary. No more than 25 hours per week.
