RECREATION SUPERVISOR
RECREATION SUPERVISOR – Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department – Full-Time, 37.5 hours/week (flexible schedule including some nights and weekends).
This position performs professional recreation work at a supervisory level in the development and direction of a variety of recreation activities such as the Before and After the Bell Program, Summer Camp, Inclusion services, and programming at community centers, schools and parks and open spaces throughout Portland. This position involves on-going communication with the public, school staff, community groups and other recreation professionals in the creation, planning and adaptation of a variety of recreation programs. Must have experience organizing, leading and instructing staff and facilitating youth and adult programming in the community. Additionally must have experience managing sports leagues and developing marketing materials such as brochures and flyers for recreation programs. Assists in the planning and development of City-wide special events and activities.
Requirements of Work: Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge and appreciation of the ideals, techniques and methodology of planned recreational programs for youth, teens and adult patrons. Experience working with diverse populations, including the ability to work effectively with customers with special needs. Working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (Word and Excel) and Google Suite. Proven ability to train, supervise and manage permanent and non-permanent staff.
Training and Experience Desired: Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP).
Necessary Special Requirements: Must be First Aid and CPR certified and must have the ability to work a flexible schedule that may include nights and weekends. A Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) is required or to be obtained within 6 months of hire. Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of satisfactory criminal background check; must possess valid Class C driver's license in good standing.
Pro-Tech – Grade 7 – Annual starting pay range is $54,717.00 - $69,342.00 depending on experience .
