What are the responsibilities and job description for the Economic Development Specialist position at City of Richland?

Target Hiring Range: $33.48 to $ 40.17 Hourly (DOQ)
This position is full-time with some evening and weekend meetings required. This is an on-site position with no work from home option. 

GENERAL SUMMARY

Performs intermediate skilled administrative support work to assist with the City’s business retention programs,  with work focused in areas such as contract management, grant writing, small business outreach and programs, marketing, asset management, networking and special projects to promote and enhance the City's economic vitality, and related work as apparent or assigned.  Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Economic Development Manager.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid driver’s license.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associates/Technical degree with coursework in economic development, business administration, communications, or closely related field and at least five (5) years of experience in the above categories, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Extensive customer service experience
  • Experience with public speaking/presenting
  • Excellent business writing skills
  • Experience with both applying for and administering grant funds
  • Strong multi-tasking and organization skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Intermediate skills using the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Prior experience in marketing

Selection will be based on overall qualifications, skills testing (if applicable) and an interview process. Final candidate selected will be subject to a comprehensive background/reference check commensurate to the position.

Salary : $33 - $47
