What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Basketball Referee position at City of Rifle?
Summary:
The role of this seasonal part time Referee position, is to make sure rules of the game they are officiating are being followed by all players. The referee will explain rules as needed and ensure that all participants understand these rules. Referees make calls regarding when these rules are broken and assess penalties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
?Arrive at least fifteen (15) minutes prior to the scheduled game time.
?Assist other Rifle Recreation staff with any setup and tear down needed.
?Officiate boys and girls youth basketball games.
?Communicate with each team’s coach in a coaches meeting before the game and reviewany ground rules, unusual circumstances, and answer any questions.
?Make sure all players are in proper uniform and notify the coach of any problems that needto be rectified included removal of wristbands, watches, jewelry, and having their jerseystucked in.
?Check the court for any hazards or wet sports and ensure the ball is appropriately inflated.
?Remain unbiased while officiating all games and avoid verbal contact with spectators.
Minimum Education: No minimum education required.
Job Requirements: Must be at least 15 years old. Must pass a background check with results acceptable to the City of Rifle.
Job Duration: Recreational Basketball Season, generally early October to late February.
Salary : $35 - $40
