The Position
Responsible for escorting children safely across streets and intersections at the assigned elementary school.

WESTLAKE ELEMENTARY 7:45-8:45 A.M. 12:45-3:00 P.M. 11:45 A.M.-12:45 P.M.

MORRISSEY AT FAIRMOUNT 7:30-9:00 A.M. 2:15-3:30 P.M. 12:00 P.M.-1:30 P.M.

SCHEDULE:
Please note that this position works in conjunction with the City of Santa Cruz' school Academic Calendar and therefore, no work will be needed on school holidays, school vacations, and summer break.
Temporary School Crossing Guards will have one primary school but will work at other schools as needed. School Crossing Guards may work a combination of the hours shown. (Monday through Friday, excluding holidays)

The minimum qualifications for Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities are the following:
Minimum Requirement:
- Must be 18 years of age
Skills:·
- Basic verbal and written communications skills to take information by phone or in person and to give information to the public.
Abilities:
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Tactfully and effectively interact with people of ethnic and cultural diversity.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with peers, department staff, and the general public.
- Pass a fingerprint background investigation.
- Transport self to work sites that are not at the Police Department headquarters.
- Learn police department procedures.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Standing for a period of one hour each shift.
Salary : $17 - $24
