What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Maintenance Worker - Water Distribution position at City of Savannah?

- Assists an assigned crew; ensures crew has adequate supplies to complete assignment.
- Cleans offices, hallways, lunch and break rooms, meeting rooms, and stairways, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, buffing, and waxing floors; washing windows and mirrors; dusting furniture and fixtures; and emptying trash.
- Performs general grounds maintenance and landscaping duties: mows and edges grassy areas, trims hedges, prunes trees, pulls weeds, plants flowers, and spreads mulch.
- Maintains sprinklers; repairs broken pipes as needed.
- Replaces light fixtures and light bulbs.
- Transports vehicles to city shop for routine maintenance and services as needed.
- Troubleshoots basics maintenance problems involving HVAC, electrical, structural, plumbing and equipment repair or replacement; performs carpentry, painting, or related repair or installation.
- Performs concrete and asphalt repair of aircraft parking ramps, taxiways, runways, public and non-public roadways, parking lots, curbs and sidewalks.
- Maintains landscaping, storm drainage, and irrigation systems; treats plants and turf for disease, installs and maintains backflow prevention devices; repairs or replaces fencing and security systems.
- Performs preventative and routine maintenance of pool operating systems; maintains proper operations of backwash and chlorination systems, boilers, and other operating systems; performs preventative maintenance on various pumps and motors.
- Monitors water quality and chemistry; sizes and replaces mechanical seals; installs and calibrates chlorination controllers; installs, repairs, or replaces a variety of pool equipment.
- Estimates cost of repairs; selects and requisitions necessary equipment and related supplies; oversees all work in progress to ensure quality, timeliness and safety; inspects completed work to ensure quality and conformance to code.
- Provides maintenance and repair work and supervises a small work crew; assigns, reviews, and inspects work; guides task performance; trains and develops employees; provides input to employee performance appraisals; promotes and observes safe work practices.
- Prepares facilities for special events, including setting up meeting rooms, building stages, laying basketball courts, and setting up and breaking down show and event equipment.
- Prepares parks and athletic fields for special events, including assembling bleachers and picnic tables.
- Performs general maintenance duties; cleans the interior and exterior of parking structure; sweeps stairwell, empties trash cans, picks up litter, replaces light bulbs, blows leaves, cleans windows, and cleans restrooms.
- Cleans and maintains buildings, park and athletic facilities, including mowing grass, removing litter, streets, utilities, repairing fences and other equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
High School diploma or GED equivalent; one (1) year of related maintenance experience necessary.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
May require the following certifications/licenses:
- Confined Space safety Certification
- ICS100 and ICS700
- Blood borne Pathogens
- Traffic control Flagging certification
