What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Maintenance Worker - Public Works position at City of SeaTac?
Under the direction of the Public Works Maintenance Operation Supervisor or Maintenance Operations Lead, the employee occupying this entry level position will assist with performing field work, including maintenance and repair of City streets, rights-of-way and storm drainage systems. This position is cross trained to perform a full range of duties as needed to meet workload demand across the division. Public Works Maintenance Operations are categorized into two sections which are Street/Vegetation, and Storm. However, for the needs of our division, the seasonal maintenance workers will primarily be assigned to the Street/Vegetation staff with occasional work being assigned to assist the storm staff.
E denotes an essential function of the job - Graduation from high school or GED.
- Previous experience in public works or parks maintenance is desired
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License. A three-year driving abstract must be submitted prior to hire.
- Successful applicants must be able to pass a physical exam and provide their own steel-toed safety boots.
- A combination of experience and training that provides the candidate with the knowledge and skills to perform the job is desired.
- Perform entry level and semi-skilled maintenance and repair of City streets, rights-of-way and storm drainage systems in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures. Complete work according to specified work orders; completes required daily logs. E
- Support the relationship between the City of SeaTac and the citizens by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors, vendors, and City staff; promote the City goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures; provide support to other City departments and participate in task related meetings as assigned. E
- Assist and perform repetitive tasks including mowing, edging, line trimming, weeding, brush cutting, pruning, litter control, pesticide/fertilizer application, and traffic control. E
- Maintain regular attendance during standard work week. E
- Perform related duties as assigned.
