What are the responsibilities and job description for the Horticulture / Landscape Interns position at City of Shoreview?
The City of Shoreview is accepting applications for Horticulture/Landscape Interns to assist the Parks Department in the care and management of our landscapes this summer. These positions support our ongoing effort to provide green spaces and skillfully landscaped grounds in a visually pleasing and environmentally responsible manner.

Note: This position requires regular and reliable attendance, the ability to concentrate and manage multiple priorities with frequent interruptions, strong written and verbal communication skills, strong customer service skills, and the ability to work well with others.Minimum Qualifications

Hours: Typically Monday through Friday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm

- Plan, coordinate, monitor and maintain landscaped areas throughout the community.
- Assist with planting and maintenance of all City landscape areas.
- Assist with seasonal landscape installation.
- Assist with record keeping of plant and other materials.
- Assist with pest identification and recommend control measures.
- Assist with other park maintenance work and special projects as assigned.

- Enrollment in (or completion of) a degree or certificate program in Horticulture, Landscape Management, Plant Biology or closely related field.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle report.
- Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous related work experience.
- Completion of related horticulture and landscape courses.
- Previous customer service experience.
Hours: Typically Monday through Friday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm
