What are the responsibilities and job description for the Referee position at City of South Lake Tahoe?
The City of South Lake Tahoe is currently seeking referees to assist with the following leagues. The estimated hours are 24 - 32 hours per league.
Youth Basketball
Saturdays March 1 - April 19
Flag Football
Sundays August 17 - October 26
Adult Volleyball League
Sundays October - to November 24
This position is responsible for enforcing the rules of the game and maintaining standards of fair play, sportsmanship, and safety during organized sports programs.
Responsibilities:
- Officiate games with knowledge of league rules and regulations.
- Monitor player safety and promote good sportsmanship among participants.
- Communicate effectively with coaches, players, and spectators.
- Keep accurate records of game scores, fouls, and other statistics as required.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of the specific sport’s rules and gameplay (e.g., basketball, soccer, flag football, etc.).
- Ability to communicate and make decisions in high pressure situations
- Previous refereeing or coaching experience is a plus, but not required.
