Job Summary
The Collection Equipment Operator operates commercial sanitation equipment such as front loader truck, side loader truck, knuckleboom loader truck, roll-off truck and related equipment in order to provide prompt service to all residential and commercial customers of the City Sanitation Division. This position works 2,080 hours per year. The annual salary is $36,628.80.
Essential Job Functions
- Operates front loader garbage truck, side loader garbage truck, knuckleboom loader truck, roll-off truck, and other related equipment;
- Collects solid waste from various locations and delivers to disposal facility;
- Inputs route information into an electronic data recording device;
- Performs minor maintenance on collection containers;
- Cross trains in order to learn how to use different equipment;
- Performs daily inspection of related trucks, equipment, and containers;
- Cleans, washes, and performs preventive maintenance on assigned vehicles;
- Completes required documentation on daily activities/routes and forwards to supervision/clerical staff as required;
- Inspects waste for flammable and hazardous substances and notifies supervisor if found;
- Receives customer complaints and requests and relays to supervision;
- Assists with training of other collection equipment operators as needed.
Requirements to Perform Work
- High School Diploma or GED;
- Two (2) years of experience in a related field;
- Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
- Valid State of Georgia Class "A" or “B” CDL Driver’s License.
