The City of Surprise Parks & Recreation Department is excited to welcome an inspiring and energetic individual to our Aquatic team at the brand-new Oasis Swim Center, a next-generation facility set to open in May 2025. Our facility features a 50-meter pool designed for competitive swim teams and meets, a 6-lane warm-up pool, and a beach-entry recreation pool. SUMMARY
Incumbents assist with the planning, implementation and coordination of a wide variety of recreation activities and programs and community special events. Responsibilities include supervising facilities or specific programs or activities, customer service, problem-solving, routine day-to-day operations and reports, scheduling entertainment, setting up events/programs, inventory, and rule adjudication. Incumbents may be assigned as cashier to receive checks and cash, process payments, and procure supplies and services. Incumbents oversee part-time staff and volunteers.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED, and two years of related recreation experience. Additional education cannot be substituted for the required experience. The education requirement can be substituted with related recreation experience on a year for year basis.
CERTIFICATIONS
Must have at the time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Arizona Driver License. Positions that work in licensed programs require certification in Community Infant, Child, Adult CPR, and First Aid within six months of hire.
