Program Coordinator
Pyle Adult Recreation Center

Opening Date: Open until filled

Closing Date: Open until the needs of the City are met.

Hourly Wage: $16.00/hour – Part time; temporary (no benefits)

Work Schedule: Tuesday/Thursday; hours will be 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM. Scheduled hours will be approx. 14 hours per week; 2 days a week.

This is a Temporary Non-Benefitted position, not to exceed 24 months.

Experience & Training: Experience in recreation programming, operation of a community center, and working with the senior adult population is preferred. Experience cooking for large numbers. Proficient in Microsoft Office Software, including Word, Excel and Publisher. Some college level coursework in recreation, gerontology and/or related field is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate Arizona driver’s license.

Must obtain current CPR/First Aid Certification/AED Certification and
Maricopa County Food Handler’s Card within 30 days of hire date.

Essential Job Functions:

• Promote activities for retirees including but not limited to, multigenerational programs, craft classes, exercise classes, entertainment groups, and special events.
• Lead in food preparation luncheon events, weekly.
• Create themes, decorations and social activities for special events.
• Schedule and coordinate volunteers to assist with events, bingo and meal preparation.
• Use moderate physical exertion in lifting and moving equipment, supplies and room furniture.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.
