Job Title: Water Distribution Operator
Maintain and operate water and sewer distribution lines, using various types of tools and equipment. Provide quality customer service to the citizens of The Colony, following written and verbal instructions.
Duties:
•Maintenance and operation of water and sewer systems,
•Supervising small groups of operators as needed,
•Operating and maintaining valves, fire hydrants, and water distribution parts,
•Inventorying parts and reporting on job sheets,
•Turning on and off water systems,
•Lifting and carrying 100 pounds, dragging, pushing or pulling 150 pounds, standing, bending & twisting for extended periods of time,
•Working in extreme cold, heat, rain, ice or snow,
•Providing 24/7 on-call service,
•Learning operations of a backhoe, jetting machine, pumps and other types of equipment,
•Communicating effectively and courteously in person, in writing, over the telephone, and via e-mail,
•Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Some mechanical skills, ability to communicate with others, read, write, and have good math skills.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or G.E.D., Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record, ability to acquire a C certificate of competency in water distribution within two years, and a class B CDL within six months of employment.
