What are the responsibilities and job description for the BU TECHNOLOGY SERVICE MANAGER position at City Of Tupelo?

SUMMARY:

Full-time Technology Services Manager of the City of Tupelo Technology Services division within the Finance Department. Technology Services Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations of the City’s networks. The person must be able to organize, install and support the computer systems including all local networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, intranets and other data communication systems. The Technology Services supervises all Technology personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned

q Organizes and coordinates completion of the City’s local and wide area networks.

q Coordinates the acquisition and distribution of technology hardware and software and network equipment throughout the city.

q Prepares an annual technology budget to include acquisition, implementation, operation and maintenance of hardware, software and networks.

q Provides consistent communication and information to staff members and to the public about the City’s technology plan and program.

q Establishes procedures for processing requests for technology support materials and for the maintenance and upgrading of equipment.

q Maintains a current inventory operational technology hardware and software materials.

q Works with administration and department heads to gain better utilization of technology hardware, software and networks.

q Provides training on the operation, maintenance and utilization of technology hardware, software and networks.

q Conducts an on-going evaluation of technology purchases to include hardware, software, and network items.

q Completes any and all other tasks as may be assigned by the CFO and or designee.

q Supervise technology personnel

q Oversee support of technology hardware and software for City systems.

q Manage and track multiple projects ongoing.

q Develop, Implement and Manage security protocols for all software and hardware systems.

q Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions/procedure.

q Recommend, budget, and purchase technology equipment as required to meet the demands of the City’s departments.

q Write/Review/ Solicit Bid’s/RFP’s/ Quote’s to comply with State Laws for purchasing technology equipment, software and services as required.

q Maintains availability to allow for immediate response and support to any technology system failures.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise Technical Personnel consisting of 2 or more employees.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school graduate or equivalency required. A.A. Degree or higher in Computer Technology and 10 years’ experience in related field is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to understand, follow, and give oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people in any given situation.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) as well as a knowledge of decimals, fractions, and percentages. Must possess basic skills in the areas of budgeting and accounting.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to routine and non-routine problems which may occur in the operation and maintenance of technology system.

CERTIFICATION, LICENCES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

Valid driver’s license from state of residence. All non-US citizens must possess appropriate visa documentation.
