The City of Vacaville is currently recruiting to fill one (1) full-time Mental Health Coordinator vacancy within the Police Department. This recruitment will also establish an eligibility list that could be used for any future vacancies (over the next 12-month period).
Mental Health Coordinators supervise, plan, coordinate and participate in the clinical and social service activities of the Police Department. Additionally, Mental Health Coordinators organize assigned activities with other departments, divisions and outside agencies and provide complex staff support to management personnel.
Job duties for the role may include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate the Intern Counseling Program
- Recruit, interview, train and supervise counseling interns
- Coordinate psycho-educational groups in the schools
- Coordinate parenting education classes/workshops
- Provide CA BBS supervision to university interns
- Coordinate Family Resource Center services
- Coordinate victim advocacy services on a multi-disciplinary law enforcement team
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills in order to work in an effective manner across all City Departments and all levels of employees, as well as strong oral and written communication skills. The desirable knowledge, skills and abilities include, but are not limited to:
- Excellent project management skills
- Prior experience managing budgets/funding
- Exceptional data analysis and interpretation skills
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Ability to recognize and set priorities to accommodate and be responsive on special projects
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Prior experience managing special programs such as recruitments, risk management, and/or safety
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Equivalent to completion of a Master's Degree in social work or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in professional social work, preferably affiliated with a public safety or judicial agency. Supervisory experience is highly desirable.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Possession of Marriage Family Therapist (MFT) License, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) License, or equivalent California State License is required.
Bi-Lingual (Spanish) capability is desirable.
