What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Worker position at City of Virginia Beach?
As a Maintenance Worker, you will assist in a wide variety of building repairs, renovations, and construction. The work involves receiving work order assignments from a supervisor to perform a variety of tasks such as:
- General maintenance, preventative maintenance and repair of city buildings and facilities
- Repair doors, windows, locks, door closures, panic bars, and all types of roofs
- Pour concrete, assist in framing, trim, siding, cornice, roofing, and cabinetry on public buildings and facilities.
- Operate a pressure washer. Have knowledge of repair and installation of brick pavers
- Use a multitude of tools and equipment associated with the trade to construct and repair various wood and composite articles.
- May also be required to move furniture.
- Effectively assist in building or repairing all types of structures in accordance with standards of the trade
- Correctly operate hand and power tools following all safety procedures
- Maintain a clean vehicle and job site.
- Keep neat and orderly records in order for future reference and statistical purposes.
- Must have good customer service.
- Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge, and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described in the job description.
