What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Supervisor position at City of Virginia Beach?
Duties: PARK SUPERVISOR duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
As a PARK SUPERVISOR you will be responsible for the overall supervision, management and operation of one of the maintenance teams in the City's park system.
Park Maintenance:
- Performs and manages maintenance including, but not limited to ball fields, dog park turf, trash collection and disposal, grass cutting, shrub trimming, edging, raking, sweeping, power washing, and painting
- Clean picnic tables, playground equipment, park office, trails, picnic shelters and restrooms to ensure a safe, clean and attractive park environment
- Conduct inspections of various park amenities to include playgrounds, dog park, volleyball/tennis, disc golf amenities and basketball courts, maintenance equipment and facility buildings
- Inform supervisor of park maintenance and operational issues
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure good condition at all times Maintain inventory of tools, equipment and cleaning supplies; assist other city personnel with landscape maintenance, environmental projects, volunteer group projects, etc.
Supervision:
- Supervise approximately Full time and Part Time staff to include hiring, scheduling, evaluating, and discipline
- Train Park employees in the proper use of tools, utility vehicles, and grass cutting equipment to ensure safety
- Monitor daily work assignments of staff, community service workers, and volunteers
Park/Outdoor Facility Operations:
- Responsible for the overall supervision of assigned parks
- Enforce Park rules to ensure a safe park environment is maintained at all times
- Assist with shelter reservations and work with event organizers conducting events and rentals in the park
- Responsible for attending onsite meetings to ensure that events are planned to park design and capacity
- Monitor the use of recreation equipment and amenities by patrons to ensure it is being used in a safe and correct manner; manage and operate dog parks, disc golf courses and boat ramps, including the enforcement of all rules and regulations
- Explain city and department policies regarding conduct while on City Park property with violators to clarify misunderstandings
Administrative:
- Responsible for timely review and submission of timesheet Assist with monitoring capital improvement project
- Manage shelter reservations and monitor permits daily via ActiveNet database to ensure site is prepared for group
- Responds orally to in person and phone inquiries from the public to ensuring quality customer service is maintained at all times
- Responds in writing to patrons and supervisor regarding incidents, accidents and issues; assists with the preparation of work schedules and written performance appraisal evaluations of team members
- Prepares and submits work orders, inspection reports, and other reports as required utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Salary : $43,144 - $66,873
