The City of Virginia Beach, Department of Finance is recruiting for a Procurement Specialist I within their Purchasing division.
Position has the flexibility for a Hybrid Schedule: 2 Days WFH
Specific duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Manage a high volume, fast paced demanding procurement process for a broad array of goods and services, including complex technology software requirements, municipal automotive fleet equipment, aviation equipment, marine equipment, public safety equipment and services, equipment maintenance and repair contracts, internet based surplus equipment auctions and other highly complex technical municipal government equipment and services.
- Accurately analyze, evaluate, and assess the variables surrounding requests for these highly sensitive and technical procurements
- Accurately select, implement and manage the most effective and efficient procurement method
- Independently manage the competitive solicitation process from technical development through contract award
- Effectively instruct, train and direct all parties involved with the procurement; ensure compliance with all procurement laws, policies, and procedures
- Accurately review and/or draft all necessary documentation
- Clearly and concisely communicate with public, vendors, co-workers, and all levels of City personnel regarding technicalities associated with the procurement process
- Accurately present and defend decisions associated with actions taken
- Effectively coordinate projects to meet applicable deadlines
