What are the responsibilities and job description for the Revenue Agent I position at City of Virginia Beach?
- Assess business taxes that fall within the guidelines of the City and State Codes.
- Interview taxpayers pertaining to tax assessment, basis of value, and tax due.
- Advise senior agents of issues relating to accounts and summonses.
- Update files and answer basic taxpayer inquiries (in person, by email, and by telephone).
- Operate various office equipment.
- Perform technical work which involves ability to interpret state code and apply findings to individual taxpayer.
- May cross train in other functional areas of the department such as assessing business or personal property, classifying businesses and issue business license once all code-related procedures are satisfied, and assisting taxpayers with the completion of state income returns.
- Achieve basic cross-training in other functional areas of the department.
- Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those duties described or less.
Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on current workloads and department needs.
