The Parking Specialist is a civilian position in the Police Department that enforces parking restrictions and investigates parking violations.
The starting pay for this position ranges from $14.42 to $19.78 hourly, depending on experience and qualifications. Work Schedule:
Monday though Friday
8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m .
The following are normal for the position but shall not be construed as exclusive or inclusive. Other related duties may be required and assigned:
- Patrol city streets and municipal parking lots in a city vehicle, enforcing parking laws and ordinances. This process includes: checking times zones, marking vehicles, entering information into a hand-held computer, affixing citations to vehicles, communicating via two-way radio, and interacting with citizens and complainants.
- Investigate parking complaints assigned by police dispatch and take appropriate enforcement action.
- Recognize and report any situation or violation during patrols that require investigation by a police officer.
Other Job Functions
- Appear in court and testify as a witness in contested parking cases.
· HS Diploma or equivalent
· Valid Driver's license
· Basic computer proficiency and ability to operate two-way radio
· Ability to work in various weather conditions
· Ability to understand and apply laws and ordinances related to parking violations
· Ability to pass police department background check
· Ability to interact with and diffuse angry or agitated individuals
Preferred Requirements
· Previous law enforcement education, training and/or work experience highly preferred
