What are the responsibilities and job description for the PROGRAM ASSISTANT FT - OFFICE ON YOUTH position at CITY OF WAYNESBORO?
The Central Shenandoah Valley Office on Youth (CSVOOY) is currently seeking a Full-Time Outreach Coordinator to support the CSVOOY in their mission.
The CSVOOY provides and promotes collaborative efforts among youth, families, human service providers, and community organizations to encourage positive youth development in our company. Areas the office specializes in include family life, parenting, truancy, and crime control.
The Coordinator will work in planning, and implementing community and school-based age-appropriate, positive youth development prevention programs. This individual is responsible for developing and implementing outreach strategies such as Community in Motion and The Screenagers Project to increase awareness, engagement, and participation in our initiatives.
The Coordinator must have strong community engagement/networking skills, and strong communication/public speaking skills. They will need to build on existing outreach programs and strategize new forms of engagement to progress the mission of the OOY and be able to relate well with youth and families. The Coordinator must also have strong organizational, problem-solving, and quick-thinking skills. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, possesses knowledge of community systems, and current public health issues; particularly as they relate to youth and young adults, and is aware of consequences associated with risky behaviors. There will be training and cross-training opportunities available with this position.
Education requirements include any combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate’s degree with coursework in human services or related fields and some experience in program development and working with youth. Valid Virginia Driver’s License, criminal background check, and drug screen required.
