Job Summary
The Ramp Service Agent ensures all passengers are greeted and aircraft is fueled and tied down as required. Ensures airport grounds, facilities and equipment are maintained and serviceable, as required.
Essential Job Functions
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance; physically present to work;
- Assist itinerant flights, travelers, as required, with baggage, and flight arrangements;
- Maintain runway and taxiway lighting equipment;
- Performs safety inspections and submits work orders as necessary;
- Prepares arriving/departing aircraft, as required; GPU, Fuel, tug and parking aircraft (tie-down);
- Assists with fueling and tugging aircraft, as required;
- Maintain exterior grounds (grass and tree maintenance);
- Ensures National Weather Service Reports and fuel reports are generated and reported, as required;
- Ensures preventative maintenance schedules for aircraft equipment and machinery;
- Apply herbicide throughout airport property;
- Assists in car rentals, hotel reservations and meal preparations;
- Assists with verifying Domestic and International Flights;
- Assists with Regulated Garbage Regulations;
- Assists with interior general facility maintenance, as required;
- Assist with fuel and retail sales;
- Performs other similar or related duties as assigned.
- Employee may be required to work beyond normal business hours at night and/or on weekends
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- Applicant must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen at the City's expense.
- High School Diploma; or equivalent;
- One (1) to three (3) years of work related experience;
- Applicate must have a current valid Class "C" Driver's License and be insurable
- Herbicide Application Certification.
- Aviation Safety Procedures Certification;
- Must successfully complete Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within first three months upon hire
- Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of aircraft and airport operations, is preferred.
Employee must have experience handling mowing/shredding equipment to perform general exterior ground maintenance.
Employee must be familiar or learn about various aircraft operations and fueling procedures.
Employee must be able to operate airport machinery and equipment.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Duties may involve close hand and eye coordination and physical dexterity. Manipulation and motor control under conditions that may require extreme accuracy may be critical. The manual skills required are comparable to those which might be needed in making repairs to delicate electronic instruments or complex equipment, conducting laboratory tests, performing microscopic experiments, administering injections, firing a gun, or operating Class B vehicles or safety vehicles at high speeds.
Work requires moderate intermittent physical strength and effort daily. Work includes lifting, moving, and positioning/loading heavy objects (up to 100 lbs.), pulling, pushing, remain stationary or move about for the full workday may also be involved. Driving in adverse weather troublesome road conditions may be required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The nature of duties may involve continuous presence, exposure of unpleasant or irritating elements, such as considerable noise, odors, chemical fumes, dust, smoke, heat, cold, oil, dirt or grease. Work is continually performed outdoors, regardless of weather conditions. Work generally contains one or more constant elements of stress such as being on call for 24 hours or being under prolonged pressure during emergency situations. Mental stress is usually present in the form of being required to weigh completing and concurrent demands under deadline pressures.
OCCUPATIONAL RISKS: Duties regularly present potential risk of injuries from improper exposure that could result in loss of time from work. Examples of injury include burns from chemicals, steam, or fire, severe muscular strains from working with extremely heavy material, falls from heights more than three feet and illness from exposure to communicable diseases. Special safety precautions, training, or protective clothing such as gowns, coats, gloves, glasses, hats or boots may be required.
CONFIDENTIALITY: Has access to some confidential information obtained during performance of regular position responsibilities.
WORKFORCE DISPERSION: Employees work at the same location and the same work shift, a few may be dispersed.
