What are the responsibilities and job description for the Revenue Specialist position at City of Wilmington, NC?
The City of Wilmington is hiring a Revenue Specialist who is responsible for collecting and processing cash, check, credit card, ACH, and bank draft transactions via incoming mail, over the phone, in-person or online. Payments are received for various fees, fines, taxes, loan payments etc. Payments are currently processed using multiple software financial systems; H.T.E, MUNIS and Rec Trac. This position will be communicating with the public as well as cross departmental staff and needs to have a full understanding of the collection process and be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form. This position must have the ability to interpret policy and procedure. This position is also responsible for balancing daily cash and revenue accounts and must have knowledge of general ledger accounting concepts as demonstrated with a two-year degree in the accounting field or similar area. Other duties of this position include auditing petty cash for various City departments, assisting with collections for NSF payments and other duties as assigned.
Education: Associate's degree or higher in finance, business administration or another closely related field of study.
Experience: Minimum three (3) years of related fiscal support and/or revenue collection experience to include cash handling, drawer balancing and/or bank deposits.
Other Requirements: Valid Driver's License
Notes: The selected candidate will be required to complete a driving, criminal and credit history check. The selected candidate will also be required to complete a post-offer drug screen.
Experience working with Tyler/Munis financial system.
Experience working with Rec Trac software.
Experience performing collection duties for a municipality or other government entity.

Health Insurance - The City offers two options for health coverage: a standard PPO plan and a High Deductible Health Plan with an associated Health Savings Account. Coverage becomes effective the first day of the month following 60 days of employment for employees and their eligible dependents. Both you and the City contribute to the overall cost of coverage.
Dental Insurance - Coverage becomes effective the first day of the month following 60 days of employment. Employees, their spouse and dependent children are eligible for coverage.
Life Insurance - The city pays to provide coverage valued at one times your annual salary. Supplemental insurance is available for employees to purchase. Optional coverage for dependents is also available for purchase.
Retirement:
- NC Local Government Retirement System - All benefits eligible employees make a mandatory 6% contribution every pay period.
- Deferred Compensation – The city contributes an amount equal to 4.5% of the annual salary to either the 401(k) or 457 plans regardless of employee contribution. Employees may choose to contribute additional money to the deferred compensation plans, without a match from the City, within the IRS guidelines.

- Paid Parental Leave - Six weeks of paid leave for the birth, adoption or placement of a child (must run concurrently with FMLA).
