What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forestry Intern position at City of Woodbury?
The primary purpose of this position is to provide experience to individuals enrolled in a forestry related education/training program. This position will mainly preform forestry duties with the City of Woodbury Forestry Crew along with other possible routine Park Maintenance tasks if needed. Flexible work hours available, up to 40hrs /week.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and smell. Able to lift 50lbs.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Ability to work with others or individually to accomplish daily tasks
- Use of G.P.S. and laptop related to the current tree inventory
- Inspection of inventoried trees related to general size and condition
- Inspection of non-inventoried forested areas related to disease and insect issues
- Communicate effectively with the public as questions arise related to your task
- Assist forestry crew with tree removals, tree planting and tree pruning
- Equipment maintenance related to the daily activities of the forestry crew
- Assist other areas within the parks department as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a valid driver's license
- Minimum age of 18
- Currently enrolled in a tree related post high school program/education
