Job Summary
The Director of Finance will be entrusted with managing all facets of financial operations, devising financial policies and guidelines, and overseeing the initiation and functioning of the District's financial management systems. This role is integral in maintaining the veracity of fiscal data and fostering an environment of transparency and accountability within the organization. This individual will stand as the primary authority on financial matters in the institution.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the finance/accounting team, managing tasks such as task assignment, performance evaluations, training, compliance with policies, and making decisions on hiring and terminations.
- Evaluate existing fiscal practices, suggest and implement improvements, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Produce financial reports and statements, and address internal queries regarding financial matters.
- Perform advanced accounting activities, prepare reports, and ensure data accuracy.
- Oversee and coordinate audits, manage analytical studies, and maintain related records.
- Manage tax information and calculations, and oversee the District's cash management, including investments and forecasting.
- Oversee the District's overall budget and financial activities.
- Develop innovative financing plans for capital improvements, revenue generation, etc.
- Participate in critical functions including retirement fund management, employee health insurance, risk management, and property insurance.
- Perform other relevant duties as needed.
Training and Experience
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 7-10 years of senior financial management experience required
- Government experience at the senior management level a plus
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience required
- CPA or CMA preferred
- Strong understanding of finance, accounting, auditing, financial reporting methods, financial control practices, strategic planning, and risk management
- Proficient in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and governmental accounting standards board (GASB) principles
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient with computers and relevant software applications
Travel:
- Some travel may be required for conferences, training, and off-site collaboration with other agencies.
Working Conditions:
- Reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
- Working conditions are generally indoors, in a temperature-controlled office environment, working closely with others and alone.
- Possible exposure to dirt, dust, moderate noise, electrical/chemical/mechanical hazards, communicable diseases, angry/difficult people, and construction sites.
- Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing, or sitting for prolonged periods of time; kneeling, squatting, bending, twisting, and crouching during assigned activities, pushing and/or pulling, climbing stairs, lifting, and carrying materials.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
General Working Hours:

Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with potential for occasional overtime.

Salary : $85,000 - $120,000
