What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resident Engineer position at Civil Science?
Civil Science is currently seeking a qualified Resident Engineer to join our expanding team in Salt Lake City, St. George or Lehi, Utah office. As a Resident Engineer, you will serve as a crucial liaison between the project's stakeholders and the engineering team. You will be responsible for overseeing the implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of UDOT related construction engineering projects, ensuring that they meet quality standards, adhere to specifications, and are completed within schedule and budget constraints. This role demands technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams. Key engineering projects are focused on local roadways and state DOT projects.
Requirements
- Must currently hold a Utah Professional Engineer License
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Must have UDOT CEMT Certification
- Minimum 8 plus years of recent experience in highway/DOT projects is required.
- Proven experience in engineering project management, preferably in roadway construction
- Strong technical skills and knowledge of engineering principles, codes, and standards
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to think critically and ensure a successful project outcome.
- Willingness to travel and work on-site as required.
- Preference given to candidates who can demonstrate experience with UDOT design and construction standards.
- CITP, and partnering certifications required, or proof that the CITP process has been started, with the ability to complete these within 1 month of hire date.
- Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass both a criminal background check and driving record review.
