What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Coordinator position at Clark Atlanta University?
Helps represent Clark Atlanta University both on and off campus. Provides recruitment support to the Admissions Office through recruiting events planning, group campus visits and tours scheduling, marketing and recruitment team program assistance, under the supervision of the Division Director of EMSL. Develops the Admissions social media presence of the university by working closely with the Division Director and campus marketing resources and staff. Provides support and coordination of the duties of the department's undergraduate ambassador program. Duties include mailings, emails, phone calls, occasional travel, implementation of events, and marketing and recruitment plans to support the Admissions and Student Life annual goals and initiatives.
Responsibilities:
ON-CAMPUS EVENTS • Provides support and coordination of duties of department’s undergraduate ambassador program. • Reserve rooms, campus venues, and resources well in advance for recruitment and campus events. • Schedule event dates that coordinate with the Academic Schedule, other campus events, and prospective student schedules • Submit a digital calendar of events to the Division Director well in advance to reserve rooms, campus venues, and resources • Arrange for guest speakers, their travel and housing, and their stipends/incentives for participation • Organize event details, programming, and project management • Make sure all information is accurate and available on the CAU website in a timely fashion • Recruit volunteers for events and workshops, including a Creative Team for event content and activities • Support and Coordinate undergraduate ambassadors for campus events • Help to Facilitate campus tours • Market events to our target market and increase attendance to boost recruits • Produce reports and track results from event attendance for enrollment purposes and ROI • Events include: Explore CAU, Admit Days, Virtual Open Houses, Homecoming, Panther Fest, retreat groups, youth group visits, and other scheduled events pertaining to Enrollment Management and Student Life. • Develop and maintain professional relationships with high school guidance counselors, churches, community organizations, and agencies OFF-CAMPUS EVENTS • Plan and organize travel to recruitment and student life events as requested by the Division Director of EMSL. • Represent CAU at conventions when necessary • Organize materials and information to be used by University representatives during recruiting events
Knowledge, Skills ad Abilities
- Bi-lingual in Spanish (preferred)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including email, phone, and one-on-one interaction
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of constituents, including students, parents, faculty, staff, and senior management. Able to have command of a group when giving tours
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel)
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop)
- Experience working effectively in a fast-paced environment with quickly changing priorities.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to set priorities and organize tasks, documents, and materials efficiently.
- Ability to think and act creatively, strategically, and collaboratively.
- Ability to articulate the unique mission of Clark Atlanta University to various audiences.

- Willingness and ability to travel; a valid driver’s license, able to lift and carry marketing/promotional materials (up to 30lbs)
- Additional Information: Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, Full-time, Full year
- Occasional evenings and weekend availability throughout the year is required to staff department activities
Minimum Hiring Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's Degree required
Years of Experience: At least 2 years of experience in marketing, events planning, project planning and development, and/or social media development
