Refinery Operator I

The Refinery Operator I is responsible for performing and overseeing various refinery plant operational duties within an industrial work environment. This role involves monitoring and controlling refining/processing equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
• Operate and monitor refinery plant equipment and processes according to established procedures and safety protocols.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment issues as they arise.
• Monitor process parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow rates, and chemical concentrations to ensure optimal performance.
• Communicate with plant personnel and management to coordinate safe and efficient operations.
• Complete documentation, including operating logs, maintenance records, and safety reports.
• Participate in training and development programs to improve skills.
• Collaborate with the maintenance department and external drivers for operational support.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.

What does it take to work as a Refinery Operator I?

• High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).
• 0 to 3 years of experience in industrial or refinery operations (Preferred).
• 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training (Required).
• Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and adverse weather conditions.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, including 12-hour shifts (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM), 4-on/4-off, and 5-10 schedules.
• Flexibility for overtime, especially during vacation coverage or increased production demands.
