Clementine’s is Saint Louis’ first microcreamery. We handcraft small batch, 100% all-natural ice creams and sorbets, incorporating some of St. Louis’ favorite local ingredients to serve our community.

We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our Operations department and become a part of our Quality Control team. Seeking an experienced quality assurance specialist to build upon our reputation of decadence. Candidates should be exceptionally organized and methodical professionals with the experience to ensure the accuracy and quality of our products.

Position Summary:

The Quality Assurance Specialist is a highly organized member of the Quality Control team. The specialist will manage supplier information, ingredient specification sheets, nutritional labeling and support the Quality Control and R&D team on new flavor development, scale-ups and food safety programs. This position is responsible for inspecting and/or testing products before, during, and after the production process to ensure that products align with company and legal standards ensuring the safety of Clementine’s decadent ice creams and sorbets. The specialist will be charged with developing a complete QA program that not only safeguards product quality but also fosters a culture in which all employees are actively engaged.

Responsibilities:

  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance programs that effectively monitor product manufacturing in compliance with supplier verification, GMP’s, SOP’s, and FSMA/ HACCP
  • Food Safety: Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and HACCP principles and FSMA guidelines.
  • Testing and Inspection: Perform analytical tests, inspections, and monitoring of incoming raw materials/packaging and finished goods for specification compliance. Implement and manage Random Microbiological testing on equipment and product
  • Problem Solving: Identify and address quality defects, food safety issues, and other problems.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of quality assurance and food safety activities. Prepare product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Manage supplier information, ingredient specification sheets, nutritional labeling, lot code traceability, certifications, microbiological testing results.
  • Facility Maintenance: Ensure maintenance and sanitation of the facility compliant with food safety requirements.
  • Audits: Participate in internal and external audits. Maintain a “floor presence” as an auditor of quality throughout the production facility. Assist with supply chain inspection, approval, and audit programs.
  • Corrective Actions: Record and analyze statistical data and recommend modifications, or suggest new standards, methods, and procedures. Implement corrective actions to address any issues identified.
  • Collaboration: Partner with Production, Warehouse and R&D departments to ensure compliance and improve quality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in food science or 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in food handling, FIFO, HACCP planning, FSMA compliance and food sanitation practices (I.E. Serve Safe, PCQI certification)
  • Experience and ability to strictly follow standardized recipes, standards and procedures
  • Must understand culinary math and some culinary terms
  • Superb computer skills, including database management. Experience with Genesis, Fishbowl, Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Ability to stand frequently, stoop, reach and lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and comfortably
  • Ability to tolerate abrupt and significant changes in temperature, due to frequent interaction with freezers and walk-in coolers
  • Ability to handle products and ingredients that include milk, egg, peanut, tree nut, soy and/or wheat
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
