What are the responsibilities and job description for the Disability Specialist position at Cleveland-Cliffs Steel Corporation?
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Regularly manage complex tasks under tight deadlines with superior assessment and problem-solving skills.
- Communicate to all levels of the organization, employees and business partners through written, oral, electronic and in-person communication.
- Review and evaluate medical documentation for benefit purposes.
- Follow up with employees and doctors' offices for updated information and documentation.
- Enter and reconcile weekly benefit payments.
- Maintain employee privacy and documents containing Protected Health Information.
- Case management for disability claims according to site-specific benefit plans and CBAs.
- Administration of FMLA according to DOL and state laws as well as relevant CBA provisions.
- Maintain flexibility with changes to benefit plans, laws and regulations, and company standards
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 2 years of work experience in an administrative environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office products.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a health or business field preferred.
- Job-related certifications (CLMS, CDMS, LPN/RN, etc) preferred.
- Experience with FMLA, Absence/Disability Management, Benefits or Human Resources strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Knowledge of payroll procedures is preferred.
