Cleveland-Cliffs is looking to recruit and hire the best future leaders in Procurement as the company continues to grow. There is an immediate opportunity for a Senior Buyer as part of our Corporate Procurement department. The primary function of this position is to coordinate and manage the strategic procurement process for assigned categories ensuring the cost- effective acquisition of goods and services across all Cleveland-Cliffs business units. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the development and execution of procurement strategies, bid process and negotiations, project management, supplier relationship management, and contract management.
The Senior Buyer may office in East Chicago, IN, West Chester, OH or Cleveland, OH.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead strategic sourcing activities for assigned categories to include project management, strategy development, RFI/RFP development and analysis, negotiations, supplier selection, contracting, implementation, ongoing commodity management and contractual compliance
- Delivers excellence in procurement activities including spend analytics, strategy development, negotiations, and stakeholder engagement
- Participate in developing detailed sourcing strategies for a broad set of indirect categories to drive cost-saving initiatives which align with company goals
- Conduct research on market dynamics, cost drivers, supply base, and economic indicators for assigned projects and contracts
- Deliver value-added results to the organization by applying financial analysis principles and procurement discipline
- Develop strong relationships with internal business partners to capture business requirements, develop the appropriate sourcing strategy, evaluate responses from supply market and negotiate agreements that deliver best value
- Support commodity events managed at the enterprise level to ensure delivery of business plans and commodity strategies as defined by Purchasing Management.
- Assess, manage and mitigate risk, develop formal contingency plans
- Carry out company policies regarding procurement practices, standards and ethical conduct to ensure a fair, effective, and competitive sourcing process throughout the organization.
- Travel as business needs dictate.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS or BA in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering or other business-related field or a minimum 5 years of procurement, commodity management or other strategic sourcing experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- Ability to define problems, collect & analyze data, establish facts and draw conclusions
- Must possess high ethical standards and the ability to work within Company’s Code of Ethics and Business Policies
- Ability to build rapport with others in the work environment
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing sourcing strategies that have yielded measurable business results
- Ability to understand the Legal aspects of Procurement
- Ability to perform in a high-pressure environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of steelmaking processes and practices
- Possesses experience with Oracle, Ellipse, or Tabware
