Pulmonary Function Technician

As a Pulmonary Function Technician, you will perform pulmonary function testing according to the latest ATS/ERS standards. You will perform and analyze quality control data and perform advanced invasive or noninvasive protocols. Opportunities will be provided to share educational in-services to staff, advanced practice nurses and physician assistants.
A caregiver in this position works day shift Monday-Friday.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform lung diagnostic testing and will coach patients to perform procedures to quality standards.
Evaluate safety in walking patients (6 minute walk tests), obtain ABGs and indentify medical alert values.
Be passionate with strong empathy skills.
Prioritize multitasking in a face-paced environment.
Work well in a collaborative, team-based setting.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal caregiver include:
Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialing from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) licensure
Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Minimum of 1 year direct patient care experience
Preferred qualifications include:
Certified and/or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT, RPFT) credentialing through the NBRC
Asthma Educator Specialist (AE-C) credentialing through the NBRC
3 years of critical care patient experience
Previous pulmonary function testing experience

Physical Requirements:
Ability to administer six minute walk tests at a pace of at least 3.0 mph (average walking speed), ability to move K cylinders onto dollies, ability to change gas cylinder regulators with a wrench and ability to lift boxes up to 25 pounds in weight.
Ability to perform pulmonary function tests for demonstration purposes and for the collection of biological control data for QC purposes.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
