Performs intermediate manual work performing custodial work in the care, cleaning, general maintenance of the Department of Social Services areas of the building and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the close supervision of the Administrative Assistant II. The normal work schedule includes Monday through Friday 6AM-3PM.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment. Ability to identify cleaning needs and address with appropriate methods and supplies. Ability to perform manual labor requiring continuous physical effort. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to observe and report needs for maintenance and supplies. Ability to deal courteously with the public. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisor and other employees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining bathrooms in a sanitary condition; filling tissue, towels and soap dispenser, un-stopping commodes or sinks. Maintaining waiting rooms, interview rooms, Fitness room, and offices (as needed) in a sanitary condition; sweeps, mops, wipes down chairs, tables, cleans glass, vacuums and other cleaning and upkeep as needed. Maintaining cleanliness of Agriculture Extension building several days a week.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Less than high school diploma or GED and minimal experience in housekeeping or building cleaning work, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This work requires the regular exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and pushing or pulling, frequently requires speaking or hearing, lifting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires sitting and climbing or balancing; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at
normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment and frequently requires exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
