What are the responsibilities and job description for the Case Aide- Child Protection Unit position at Clinton County Job & Family Services?
Job Duties: Under the direction of a Child Protection Supervisor, a case aide works with direct service staff to provide supportive, strength-based services for families. This position monitors and documents child visitations with family members as assigned and may provide parent mentoring in some instances. Case Aides will provide transportation for children in agency custody to visits and various appointments and may be needed to assist in transporting family members as well. Case Aides communicate with assigned casework staff and assist caseworkers in facilitating permanency for custody children as well as compiling Lifebook’s for custody children with a goal of adoption. Assists in writing letters, conducting research for social history’s for children and adults, requesting medical records, and other miscellaneous documents. Assists caseworkers in child placement and school enrollment. Cooperates with JFS staff, foster parents, churches, schools, health organizations, physicians, community groups, and other resources to promote better services to children and families. Works alongside caseworker to provide independent living skills to youth ages 14-21. Maintains confidentiality. Documents services provided within the State Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS) and Traverse. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
· Valid Ohio Driver’s License, required liability auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
· Regular and predictable attendance
· Background checks consistent with requirements as outlined in OAC 5101:2-5-09 must be completed at employment and include, but are not limited to, the following:
o Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI)
o FBI
o State Automated Child Welfare System (SACWIS)
o State Child Abuse/Neglect Central Registry Check for any state in which the applicant resided in the last 5 years
o National Sex Offender Public Website
o Bureau of Motor Vehicles
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in child welfare, knowledge of SACWIS database
· Experience using EDMS, electronic filing
· Comfortable working with diverse populations in various environments
· Strong organizational and time management skills
· Able to prioritize tasks
· Excellent computer skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
