Overnight Plant Supervisor Position; 5 day Rotating Shifts.
Shift flexibility is a requirement. Must be able to work all three shifts and able to work some weekends.

Overview:
Clover Farms Dairy has been in business for over 80 years bringing fresh pasteurized milk from Pennsylvania dairy farms to our local community! We are looking for a motivated plant supervisor to coordinate operations, processing, and packaging teams to produce quality products and fulfill orders for customers.

Primary Responsibility:
Responsible for coordinating and supervising all production activities of an assigned work team on a shift basis by directing assigned associates in the receiving, processing, and packaging departments. This includes planning, assigning, and directing work activities as well as addressing mechanical issues on machinery, assisting in product complaint investigations, and resolving manufacturing problems as they arise.

Essential Functions:
Supervise and coordinate the most efficient execution of production activity to ensure finished product is produced with the highest possible levels of quality.
  • Works with other members of Plant Management and Supervisory Staff to assign, direct, review and monitor work of supervised staff to maximize productivity in the plant.
  • Ensures proper procedures are in place and being followed for, production efficiency, quality of product, employee safety, state and federal guidelines.
  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments to machines.
  • Coordinates production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Evaluates needs in production for daily assignment of duties; establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends improvements to production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintains time records for payroll and production records as required.
  • Collaborates with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Provide for the supervision of assigned employees in scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, disciplinary action and performance management. If a collective bargaining agreement exists, may participate grievances or other contract related activities and discussions.
  • Trains and instructs employees regarding production and equipment standards and processes. Oversees instruction, implementation and enforcement of policies as they relate to employees.
  • Follows and leads by example regarding company policies, standards and specifications.
  • Engages in the typical responsibilities of a manager requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and delegating.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 3 years' supervisory or plant management experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • History of experience in food/beverage manufacturing (Highly preferred).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, FDA/PDA regulation, GFSI Standards.
  • Ability to follow all Sanitation and Quality Policies and Procedures, and report and follow through on any deficiencies.
  • Ability to supervise employees.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.
  • Mechanically inclined. Ability to troubleshoot machinery errors.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with variety of individuals and departments.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and judgment in communicating with staff.
  • Must be able to relate to others beyond giving and receiving instructions: they must get along with co-workers without exhibiting behavioral extremes; perform work activities requiring reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, or speaking with others; and respond appropriately to criticism from a manager.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must have very strong customer service orientation with high sense of urgency in meeting objectives and deadlines.
  • May require experience working in a union environment.
  • Tools and Technology Required: Microsoft Office Suite, Calculators, Desktop computers and Photocopiers

  • Requires the ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time, with frequent interruptions
  • Requires several hours per day of sitting, getting up and down from chairs, and reaching, bending, or carrying light loads

  • Talking, hearing, and seeing are important elements of completing assigned tasks
  • Occasionally lifts, carries, positions, or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Working environment is usually in a refrigerated food and office setting, with occasional need to leave the premises
  • Occasionally works overtime, evenings, or weekends in order to complete work or to attend meetings.
