Job Description
The Project Engineer supervises supporting staff through the completion of projects on time, within budget, and consistent with CME QA/QC standards.
Requirements
- Perform civil design analysis and calculations according to project requirements.
- Determine construction cost and material estimates based on civil designs.
- Perform field surveys and investigations to prepare/review engineering drawings.
- Review project plan and determine the design feasibilities and constraints.
- Monitor project plans to ensure objectives are being satisfied and provide timely advice to the Manager on any anticipated delays affecting project commitments.
- Use foresight and problem solving skills to predict and prevent project issues
- Attend client or contractor meetings during business day and in the evenings as needed.
- Supervise, coordinate and mentor where appropriate, internal engineering and design staff.
- Coordinate efforts by multi-disciplinary team members to achieve design objectives within budget expectations
- Consider health, safety and environmental requirements when developing civil designs.
- Perform design changes and improvements according to changing project demands.
- Manage design projects within allotted timelines
- Review all design documentation prepared and ensure that it is correct to a high degree of accuracy, suitable for construction and in accordance with all relevant standards and legislation and complies with all the requirements of CME’s QA/QC manual
- Provide assistance to other engineering design staff as required to achieve within the team a sense of harmony, effective team work, highly motivated staff and a strong customer focus.
- Assist in the preparation of proposals ongoing throughout the year including Requests for Proposals and Requests for Qualifications.
- Continually improve skills and abilities in CADD, Autodesk Products and other relevant software.
- Follow CME’s start-up procedures to organize each project
- Work independently to complete assigned tasks
- Take direction from other employees, departments and disciplines at all levels of the organization
- Accept accountability for the full scope of assigned tasks
- Collaborate well with employees across departments and locations
- Participate in team-building exercises and contribute to special company projects and volunteer initiatives outside of the workplace
- Comply with company personnel policies and procedures
- Comply with guidelines for office electronic filing systems
- The position includes all other responsibilities that may be necessary to fulfill the duties associated with a Project Engineer or as may be assigned.
Required Qualification
- B.S. in Engineering, including where applicable surveying, planning, certified landscape architect, or equivalent specialty
- 4 years’ experience. A combination of proven relevant work experience and/or higher degrees/certifications may also be considered.
- Professional Engineer license
- Active member of at least one Professional Society
