What are the responsibilities and job description for the In-School Tutor position at Coach Sam's Scholars?
Purpose: Coach Sam's Scholars, a nonprofit that provides academic and social-emotional support to underserved youth, is seeking two tutors for school-day tutoring, beginning August 25, 2025.
Program Operations: Coach Sam’s program operates 3 days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday) from 9:35 AM - 11:05 AM. Tutors must be available and present for all session days.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide meaningful one-on-one instruction.
- Act on constructive feedback provided by Coach Sam’s staff.
- Build professional relationships and communicate regularly with parents/guardians, school staff, and Coach Sam’s staff.
- Maintain a positive, engaging, and structured learning environment.
- Follow all program policies and procedures.
Reports to: President
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with students in a tutoring, teaching, or mentoring capacity preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs.
- Punctual, reliable, and professional in interactions with students, parents, and personnel.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Speak, read, and write English fluently
Requirements:
- Completion of a background check prior to tutoring.
- Availability to commit to the full duration of the program.
- Participation in required tutor training sessions
