Occupational Health & Safety Manager
The Safety Manager provides technical safety and health support to field and corporate personnel. This position develops corporate safety and health programs and objectives and coordinates safety training programs, as well as monitors safety and health regulations to ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations.
Responsibilities
- Promote a positive safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and education to field staff and CWC Trade Contractors on occupation health and safety requirements.
- Assist the company with the continual improvement of the OH&S management systems.
- Assist project teams in the development and implementation of Project Specific Safety Plans.
- Assist project teams with the day-to-day management of OH&S related activities.
- Inspect, test, and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure that they follow CWC standards and government regulations
- Prepare written reports on their findings
- Design and implement workplace processes and procedures that help protect workers from hazardous work conditions
- Evaluate programs on workplace health and safety
- Educate CWC, Trade Contractors, and workers about workplace safety by preparing and providing training programs
- Demonstrate the correct use of safety equipment
- Investigate incidents and accidents to identify what caused them and how they might be prevented
- Lead/Participate and be an active member in occupational health, safety, and other work-related peer groups.
- Assist with safety audits and manage non-conformance reports to closure.
- Provide immediate input, advice, and direction to mitigate potentially hazardous conditions and assure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Conducts weekly project safety meetings with each assigned project and documents in Procore.
- Assist the project team in reviewing upcoming work areas to preplan and determine if unidentified safety concerns need to be addressed before work begins.
Basic Qualifications
- Must hold an OSHA 30 certificate.
- Bachelor's Degree in occupational health and safety management, or related engineering discipline a plus.
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience working as an occupational health and safety professional in commercial construction, civil engineering or other related construction field.
- Must hold or be working towards a Construction Health and Safety Technician status.
- Holder of an OSHA 500 certificate a plus
- Must have a good driving record that is clear of excessive and/or habitual traffic violations, points or accidents.
