POSITION: Grounds Maintenance Associate
OVERVIEW: The Grounds Maintenance Associate will be responsible for the overall cleanliness and sanitation of the Center for Woman and Families, Men’s Service Center, Administrative Building and campus grounds under the general guidance of the Manager of Facilities. The position of Grounds Maintenance Associate requires a high degree of professionalism, adaptability, commitment and leadership ability in order to effectively uphold Coalition values and maintain an environment of dignity, respect and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS: The Grounds Maintenance Associate should possess at least a high school diploma or GED and have working knowledge of commercial environmental services. They should give evidence of possessing the following skills either through previous training and/or previous employment:
- Time management, planning and organization.
- Interpersonal communication skills and ability to engage people positively.
- Abilities in the areas of basic critical thinking and problem solving.
- Understanding of OSHA standards regarding Safe Work Environment [slips, trips and falls]
- Ability to lift supplies and equipment on a continual basis.
- Ability to walk, stand, stretch, crouch, squat and bend for long periods of time.
- Ability to work outside in all seasons of the year.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule based upon agency needs.
- The ideal candidate will have previous experience in grounds care and landscaping.
- The ideal candidate will be energetic, motivated and enthusiastic approach to the role.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Responsible for the overall care and attention of the campus grounds.
- Landscaping maintenance to include mowing, edging, blowing and other small equipment operations.
- Responsible for exterior campus trash pick up around the city block.
- Responsible for interior campus trash pick, walking the grounds and addressing any safety issues.
- Work cooperatively with both outside volunteers and guest volunteers to accomplish the needed care for our campus.
- Ensure that any volunteer is educated on the proper use of equipment, tools and chemicals.
- Using PPE properly and ensure that all volunteers use PPE properly.
- Maintain equipment and supplies in tool shed, monitoring inventory and using best practices to prevent loss.
- Complete assigned tasks daily as outlined by immediate supervisor.
- Perform radio checks and maintain radio communication at all times while on duty.
- Obey all safety rules during the course of duty. Employ safe practices when using chemicals, ladders or other possible hazards.
- Report any safety, security and facility concerns to appropriate staff and document if warranted.
- Provide assistance to guests and other staff as directed by immediate supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
