At Coast Guard Blue Dolphins (CGBD), we believe everyone should know how to swim. As a nonprofit organization, we are proud to serve families throughout Hampton, Newport News, and Williamsburg, VA, providing high-quality, year-round swim lessons and team programs for ages 6 months through adults.

About Our Program
CGBD Dolphin Swims uses the SwimAmerica™ curriculum, developed by the American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA). This technique-based program was created by some of the world’s leading swim coaches and focuses on:
- Proper stroke mechanics
- Progressive skill development
- Water safety and drowning prevention
- Motivation through a proven skills and awards system
All of our coaches are ASCA-certified and participate in monthly trainings and continuing education opportunities. Our site supervisors are also trained in Swim Angelfish, the global leader in adaptive swim instruction, allowing us to support swimmers of all abilities.

We are currently seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate Swim Coaches at all CGBD locations.

Previous swimming or coaching experience is a plus, but not required. The most important quality we seek is a passion for helping children succeed — we provide training to support your growth.
Responsibilities
- Teach swim lessons focused on technique, safety, and confidence
- Work collaboratively with fellow coaches to support swimmer development
- Help swimmers overcome challenges such as fear of water or skill barriers
- Ensure equipment is available, safe, and in good condition
- Create a positive, encouraging learning environment
