POSITION SUMMARY:
The Inedible Rendering Operator is responsible for processing of inedible animal products stemming from the rendering process.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Retrieves inedible product from the rendering department using pallet jacks to move large storage containers.
- Washes walls using water and foam cleaner.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
- Prepares for the processing of inedible products by measuring and placing items into the cooking tanks including animal products (tissue, bones, oil).
- Turns on the cooking tanks and monitor temperature gauges.
- Once cooking tank is at appropriate temperature, uses hoist system to raise storage container and using shovel will empty container contents into cooking tank.
- Monitors cooking tanks for 5 hours through the cooking process.
- Tests the oil to determine its cooking state.
- Removes oil from the surface of the cooking tank to be used in the inedible process at a later date.
- Following cooking/separating process, remaining inedible product is dumped into large containers.
- Takes container to second floor dock area, hoists container and using shovels dumps inedible product into waiting truck to be removed from the premises.
- Cleans floors with shovel, mops, brooms, foam cleaner, water, soap.
- Picks up debris including containers, pallets, trash.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:
- Jr. High School or equivalent level literacy
- Elementary School level math
- 0-6 months of a combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read and write at a Jr. High School level or equivalent.
- Basic arithmetic ability, including addition and multiplication.
- Self-motivated and able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to drive, pass, and maintain powered lift vehicle(s) certification.
