Job description

Coastal Ear Nose and Throat is seeking Front Desk Personnel with strong computer skills, excellent work ethic and the ability to adapt in a busy and dynamic environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Answering Telephone and Scheduling
  • Answers the telephone pleasantly, and by the third ring as often as possible; routes call or takes message
  • Schedules patient appointments: explains to patient which pieces of information they are to bring, provides a range of potential charges for the visit and the patient’s financial obligation, and provides patients several scheduling options, follows physician-approved scheduling guidelines
  • Confirms guarantor and insurance eligibility at the time of scheduling.
  • As time allows, instructs patients over the telephone how to complete registration on our Patient Portal before they arrive for their appointment, advises if they wish to complete in office, early arrival is necessary.
  • Completes tasks as assigned by Manager or supervisor such as, but not limited to, check eligibility, referrals due, check schedule, log and return messages, triage hospital consults, approving Self Scheduled appointments and other tasks assigned.
  • Trains new hires as assigned by Manager or supervisors. Tracks progress via training packets and assessments and reports feedback to Training Supervisor and Manager
  • Instructs patients on office policies at the time of scheduling and documents accordingly.
  • Collect payments towards balances/fees via phone as indicated by office policies.
  • Informs new patients about the practice's Web site; encourages them to visit, register online, and print a map with directions to the practice
  • Triage hospital calls and consults to physicians, PA and management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Up to two years experience in a medical office, telemarketing or other customer service positions
  • Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications
  • Knowledge of practice management and word processing software
  • Ability to perform multiple and diverse tasks simultaneously
  • Proven experience handling irate patients/customers and dealing with conflict
  • Familiarity with scheduling and rearranging appointments
  • Working knowledge of managed care
  • Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma is required
  • College education preferred

Typical start/end time: (must be flexible to stay until 7pm on Mondays)

  • 8AM - 7PM (Monday)
  • 8AM - 5PM (Tues-Thurs)
  • 8AM - 4:30PM (Fri)

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
